With more than $1.25 million in financial assistance from Canada Economic Development, Vestechpro has acquired state-of-the-art equipment to strengthen the center's innovation capacity.
Thanks to this grant, new intelligent mannequins and highly specialized equipment will enable the Apparel Research and Innovation Centre to optimize the solutions offered to companies that truly want to innovate and stand out. These new state-of-the-art acquisitions will be accessible in a new laboratory space dedicated specifically to advanced research and product development.
Among Vestechpro's new acquisitions, the Andi thermal mannequin that "sweats" like a human and allows testing of protective clothing aimed at conserving or dissipating humidity, the Eminéo robot mannequin that reproduces an infinite number of morphologies in real time, thus contributing to more inclusive and sustainable product development practices, and the "skin model", which reproduces human skin using bronze plates with artificial pores.
The grant also enabled the center to purchase the "Fully Fashion" knitting machine, which can be used to make different elements of a garment while limiting fabric waste.
And finally, the new Italian-made defibrator produces a flock of short fibers that can be blended with new fiber to make a new yarn.
