On February 2, 2024, a first jury met to evaluate the entries submitted by second- and third-year students from Cégep Marie-Victorin's École de mode participating in the upcycling Competition organized with Cirque du Soleil.
Jury members Valérie Desjardins, Véronique Breault, Marie-Ève Lefebvre, from Cirque du Soleil, Véronique Bernard, from École de mode du Cégep Marie-Victorin and Léa Thuaud, from Vestechpro, were impressed by the creativity of the participants. The entries particularly stood out to the jury for their remarkable ability to evoke emotions, a key dimension of the competition, entitled "Invoquer, Provoquer et Évoquer" ("Invoke, Provoke and Evoke").
After an arduous deliberation due to the quality of the many concepts received, the jury members determined the nine finalists. The finalists will be supported by Cirque du Soleil and Vestechpro in the creation and production of the costumes they have imagined and illustrated in their presentation files.
The nine finalists in the Cirque du Soleil Competition are :
Finalists will have until early April to make their costumes. Jury members will meet again to review the completed costumes and select the three overall winners.
