Several students and members of Cégep Marie-Victorin’s 7 lives cooperative took part in a digital printing workshop last October given by Vestechpro.
The training took place within the Lab shared between the Center and the Cégep Fashion School. Prototype labels for products made by the coop from textile scraps were produced using Lab equipment: the Brother printer and the Hotronix press. Following the presentation of safety instructions and rules specific to this equipment and a practical demonstration, participants were able to take direct control of the machines and produce prototypes.
Prior to the workshop, the Vestechpro team had introduced participants to the rules for labeling textiles in Canada. The Center has also designed a tutorial for preparing files for printing. Holding this workshop is part of one of Vestechpro's missions: to stimulate and better prepare the next generation for the needs of the industry. It enabled participants to enrich their theoretical knowledge (legislation) and practical skills (digital equipment).
