Summer School: Inclusion, Sustainability, and Digital Technology

Why? 

  • To learn about the concepts of inclusivity and diversity and their applications in the fashion and apparel industry,  
  • To understand the circular economy model and its circularity strategies,
  • To discover responsible uses of technology in the apparel value chain. 
     

Program


A rich and diverse program: interactive lectures, discussions with experts and industry professionals, hands-on workshops featuring specialized software and equipment, group reflection exercises, and much more!

Day 1 - Welcome, Introduction, and Digital Technology Focus 

  • Existing technologies that promote inclusivity in fashion and apparel
  • Hands-on experience with equipment and software in our labs: body scanning, robotic mannequins, CLO 3D design software, and more!

 

Day 2 – Inclusivity Focus 

  • Definition, theory, and case studies in the fashion and apparel industry
  • Discussions on the reality of inclusivity and diversity in the workplace
     

Day 3 – Company Visits: Inclusivity, Diversity, and Digital Technology at the Heart of Local Businesses

  • Discovering companies committed to inclusivity or diversity
  • Presentation on the role of digital technology in the operations of Montreal-based companies


Day 4 – Focus on Artificial Intelligence

  • Introduction, ethical considerations, and case studies on digital AI tools
  • Workshop experimenting with various AI tools in product development and marketing:  
    • Generating clothing designs
    • Creating advertising visuals


Day 5 – Focus on Sustainability

  • Introduction to the circular economy and its strategies
  • Hands-on workshops on the principles of eco-design and textile recycling
     

Day 6 – Summary of Learning and Closing of the Summer School

  • Exploring companies committed to sustainability and the circular economy
  • Case studies related to the concepts covered (team work)
  • Summary discussion on the Summer School’s learning outcomes and networking

Who is it for? 

This is for you if you:

  • Are a college or university student
  • Have a strong interest in issues related to inclusion and diversity, as well as in digital technology and new technologies
     

Language of the course
The course will be taught in French, so a good command of French is required.

  • Location: Cégep Marie-Victorin and other locations in Montreal  
  • Dates: June 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10, 2026
  • Schedule: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
    (Monday through Wednesday for two weeks)
  • Price:
    • $170 per person (plus taxes) - Early bird rate (until May 8, 2026)
    • $190 per person (plus taxes) - General admission (until May 28, 2026)
