Since the start of the Fall 2023 semester, Vestechpro has been proud to join forces with teachers at Cégep Marie-Victorin's École de mode to offer their students activities that complement the courses offered as part of their college curriculum.
The first activity was carried out in collaboration with Fashion Design teacher Yan Drapeau. Nearly twenty of his students were introduced to and coached in body digitization (3D scanning), using equipment from Vestechpro. The aim of the process? To generate digital avatars that students can then use as part of the CAD 3 course, in which CLO software is taught.
CLO software is used to create digital patterns and assemble them virtually. It also lets you perform virtual fittings on personalized avatars. This tool thus makes it possible to limit the number of physical samples generated during the design phase of a clothing product development.
A second activity was carried out in collaboration with teacher Nathalie Faille, from the Fashion Marketing department. On the workshop agenda: textile printing of an anniversary logo celebrating the department's 30th anniversary on promotional products. The logo, an original creation by student Émilie Dufort, had previously won an award in a competition organized by Nathalie Faille and her class.
The student herself participated in the production of the textile prints using the Centre's direct-to-garment printer. Christina Borno, a student in the Fashion Design program and intern at Vestechpro, was also involved in the production of the prints.
These activities are fully in line with the Centre's mission to disseminate information and collaborate with the next generation of designers and teachers.
