With a grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), through its College and Community Innovation Program (CCI), Vestechpro is now recognized as a Technology Access Center (TAC). The $ 500,000 grant over five years will allow the hiring of a research and innovation manager and will support the development of the Center's applied research activities for the benefit of Canadian companies in the clothing sector.
ECAT grants support the core business of college-affiliated college technology transfer centers (CCTTs) to meet the needs of local businesses for applied research and innovation.
"This support consolidates Vestechpro's research activities and supports the development of innovative research projects in apparel industry companies," said Paulette Kaci, General Manager of Vestechpro.
Niche areas of expertise for the future
Since its beginnings in 2011, Vestechpro has been developing its expertise in four applied research niches: intelligent and functional clothing; adaptative clothing; anthropometry; and sustainable development. In order to continue to position the apparel industry in Quebec and Canada as a vector of innovation and competitiveness, Vestechpro will be able, through this grant, to develop new mandates with companies and organizations on these themes.
