Art and textile circularity
On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, two bursaries will be awarded to the winning students of a competition organized by Vestechpro as part of its project Réduction et valorisation créative de déchets textiles, sensibilisation sociale et pratiques artistiques, carried out with the financial support of the Réseau de Recherche en Économie Circulaire du Québec.
This project, aimed at transforming post-consumer clothing into artistic and decorative objects, was led by the Vestechpro team in collaboration with Stéphanie Granger, a Visual Arts teacher at Cégep Marie-Victorin.
After being introduced to the circular economy model and the principle of the “3RV”, short for “reduction at source”, “reuse”, “recycling” and “recovery” by Vestechpro, two students: Elsie Aubry and Alissa Eva Guerrier, from among more than 109 students in the program were selected to cast the decorative objects they had imagined using recycled fibers.
Adam St-Laurent and Juliette Fournier Brisebois from Vestechpro, and Kassandra Graham and David Jacques from the Visual Arts department, assisted them in the design and production of their objects.
The objects will be on display in the foyer of Cégep Marie-Victorin from April 29 to May 2, 2024.
Don't hesitate to come and discover them!
